Having worked as a registered nurse in a clinical environment for some years, I made a career move into healthcare education. Although the focus of my learning projects was healthcare, my work in higher education left me feeling equally comfortable writing learning for healthcare professionals, authoring grant applications, or editing reports for HEFCE or dissertations.

Awards are often a good indicator of the quality of work. My work has received the following awards:

• commendation in the 'Public Engagement' category of the Making a Difference Awards (Mumford the Mummy online learning series, 2015)
• gold HEIST marketing award (RCNI prospectus, 2006)
• bronze HEIST marketing award (RCNI prospectus, 2006)
• shortlisted for the HEIST marketing award (RCNI prospectus, 2007)

I was also an invited judge for the FE First Awards 'Internal Communications' category (2006–2009).

All projects are assessed by me prior to determining the cost. I look at such variables as:

• word counts
• style and tone
• amount of research needed
• how many parties I might be working with and the level of communication required.
